Some of the reviews on Amazon said this inverter couldn't supply the rated watts. Furthermore, it was incapable of supplying over a 1000 Watts. I believe these reviewers used either too small of a battery bank, too small gauge of wire, or a combination of both. Not using a big enough battery bank, or fat enough cable, will cause an under-voltage condition at the inverter, causing it to shutdown. Xantrex recommends 4/0 gauge cable. In my test, I'm using what I had on hand, which was 4 gauge wire. Not near big enough for a permanent installation, but big enough to demonstrate that this inverter will power an almost 1500 Watt heat gun. I will buy 4/0 cable soon, and run this inverter at the full 1800 Watt (continuous) rating. Don't blame the hardware for an improper setup. No affiliation with anyone!

FWIW, this was on sale at Camping World for $349
