Good information.  I enjoy the ghost hunter shows what I will not watch are poltergeist ---- It is beyond my religious understanding why this things happen to people.

im unsure about the residual or intelligent theory. Just because a spirit is seen repeating actions over and over does not mean that it does not display intelligence. I think its more likley they have an obsession with a fear, person or object, which stops them from moving on but also makes it appear as though it is repeating endlessly.

@irahshots Ghosts are--supposedly--disembodied humans. The there are demons seeking to influence impressionable living humans so the demon and live and experience vicariously through the human.

@EndTimeEndorphins Good points. I think that is why God tells us not to talk to the dead. Whenever I have seen a spirit some place I pray to God to send ministering angels to them to help them heal and reconcile to God. I would never attempt or invite direct interaction.

@OS253 Very perspective, for a Buddhist. ;) Seriously, yes, that's probably a major reason why God tells us not to speak to the dead. The devil is a huge liar, can present himself as anyone you want to contact, and when he has your trust he then drags you down, hanging you on the hook of your wanting something to be that simply isn't (i.e., that your loving mother would speak to you directly despite God's laws against this). The devil often presents as a child, to get peoples' guard down.

aghh. thats freaky..... no lie, true story.... when I was about 5 years old.. i would get up in the middle of the night to play with my vtech computer toy... loved that thing... and when i would look out my doorway (with the feeling of being watched) I saw a figure standing there watching me...... :o....and it was all white... not glowing... but transparent white...so dunno if its a spirit or.....evil thingsssss :(
