@MikeSears100 I know DiLorenzo well and he's an insult to the profession, and anyone who takes his rhetoric seriously without bothering to do their own independent study of it is someone I do not respect. I craft my own arguments from the primary sources and my own original research. You're clearly just picking books that will reinforce your preconceived notions, and I find that detestable. For using my fb to shill your BS books, consider yourself blocked.

can't wait to see the additional clips

It will eventually be part of a feature length documentary on his life. The final film won't be complete until spring of 2009, for my thesis show. However, I hope to have regular updates with new clips, as they're ready. Thanks for the kind words!
Nice insults, Brian.

@MikeSears100
The fact you cannot craft a cogent argument beyond your three word reply, and the breadth of your knowledge base encompasses largely the works of a single author who is entirely discredited by mainstream, respected historians, tells me you are not worth my time. I have no problem with people who disagree with my arguments, so long as they have formed their opinions on solid, intellectual endeavor. You have not, and I do not respect you, or deem you worthy or my time. BLOCKED.

The anti-slavery campaign of James G. Birney of the Liberty Party drew away sufficient votes (62,103) to deny Clay the presidency. The 62,103 votes were enough to cause Penn. and N.Y. the go to Polk. Believe me, a President Henry Clay would NOT have been a good thing.

@MikeSears100 Part 1: As a historian, I don't trade in belief or alternate history suppositions. I leave that fluff to the buffs, dabblers, dilettantes, and wikipedia scholars (which is where I bet you found your election stats). To claim Clay would've been bad president is simply lazy and ignorant. You don't know, I don't know, so don't base the entirety of your argument on the sheer weight of your charismatic personality.

@MikeSears100 Part 2: What I do know is Polk propelled us into a war of dubious legality over land, and the subsequent debate over the new land reignited the slave question and pushed the country to Civil War. What about THAT do you find preferable to a Clay presidency built on a platform that opposed war to gain territory and emphasized internal improvements, infrastructure, and a strong centralized banking system, to bind the states, and make secession and civil war unthinkable?
