That sound at 3:46.... I hate that sound. It's the perfect example of the sound you hear in your head. It's horrible, annoying, and frustrating.
Though I'm not sure I have what he has, not a day goes by that I don't at least hear some kind of ringing in my head.
This song is a perfect example of what goes on in my head -_-

OMG IT CUT OFF THE LAST PIZZ.! GAH D':
-
@Korsair777 He was saving best for last. ;D
-
You do realize the diminuendo at the end represents him losing his hearing, the last pizzs are the last notes he ever hears. It makes you wonder what was the last note Smetana ever heard.
-
in 3:46, that's what he really heard when he was deaf

@Korsair777 the dead calm but decisive and natural ending to this movement has got to be the ending of the work. it just makes sense. the almost inaudible pizz at the end with that modulation...classic smetana. i love it.

I love it! Go viola!

why isnt this the first movement >:[
apparently, the piercingly high note starting at 3:46 is a musical simulation of the tinnitus from which smetana suffered

One of the most poetic of all. The most pleasure a violist can have, is to play this with a thoughtful group of musicians!
