@Curiousquest2 #4 is star anise, you use half of a whole one. #5 is mace, it is the outside casing of a nutmeg. :)

what did you say the names of items number 4 and 5 ?
Are there any other popular Indian styles of tea other than Chai?

@BizzMarki yes there are. Tea can be made plain without masala. Cardamom tea is another popular one. Similarly, ginger tea is made in the same way.

Dear Veena, Sounds like a wonderful recipe - but as I have not heard of star anise for chai tea,
can you kindly let me know what it adds to the flavour? And what star anise is exactly?
Which kind of tea to you recommend to use for chai? Thank you!
meriprem 1 month ago
@meriprem Star anise is a spice used in Garam Masala. It is called Dagad phool in hindi. You can use the regular tea to make chai, and to add the flavor of masala chai, these blend of spices would be a change of taste to your regular chai.
Hope it helps. Thank you :)
