@eveningniteshade so what your saying is that if you were in a major car accident at serious risk of harm, a fire brigade or police officer saves you, you claim that they aren't heros for saving your life and that they are just doing their jobs? and not a hero? unlike you SPARKY some people like to make a difference in this world if we didn't have emergency services who would save you if you got electricuted MORON!
@eveningniteshade your a dick for brains emergency services r just doing their jobs? & electrician comparing himself to a fire fighter? get a life!. most of those people in the emergency services that day were rookies & volunteers & don't get paid, you claim they are just doing thier jobs? say that to all the fire fighters and police form 911. btw police that have to sign contracts stating that in a hostage situation they have to put their lives before the public, your a complete fuck wit!
Yet at the same time like in War you can't save them all. What I mean by this is not that some loss of life is acceptable I meant more like we're only human. In a perfect world we'd have orbital platforms scanning for smoke and heat buildup while being able to monitor life signs from space and just beam victims out like in star trek.
@eveningniteshade It only takes not doing nothing to be a hero if one person more lives. Job training or conscious decision or not. If anything choosing to stay versus the risk of staying just makes it more plausible. That being said a Hero is only a word used for being 'brave' in the face of 'risk' to 'protect'. Everything they are trained to be. Yet at the same time like in War you can't save them all. Wrong place wrong time especially if a fire started in someones room, It only takes minutes.
@simon44192 Emergency service workers are just doing their job, they're not being heroes. Many more electricians die in Australia every year on the job, preforming a community service that if not done by me would result in many deaths by members of the public.
I'm not a hero. Just doing my job. There's no evidence of any emergency service worker dong anything other than just their job. The locals and staff who ran into the burning building to save people are true heroes though. Very sad story.
@eveningniteshade It wasn't incompetence or bad training. I live right around the corner and I can tell you that the firefighters were there within six minutes of the alarms going off. The reason two of the residents had already died is because the fires were set in their rooms, and I know at least one of them was on an oxygen tank. If the nursing home wasn't so close to a fire station the place would have been an inferno. There was no way those residents could have been rescued.
watch... watch?v=WM_9uDh7gOo skip to 2:46 on the video... reportedly that is the guy who started the fire. Roger... if it is indeed him i hope he gets locked up for life.
This is really bad reporting. I have to say. They milked it as much as they could which just left them looking like attention seekers reporting a horrible news story.

You can see the bastard murderer/arsonist lingering in the back ground with a yellow bag. So glad he's been caught!

The guy, a nurse, with a white shirt and yellow back pack in this footages, has been charged with the murders.
