These buses were from converted CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) to diesel between 2002-2007. In 2002, 9402 became the first bus to convert from CNG to diesel for testing. When 9402 was converted the bus had a D40-90 engine (Cummins LTA10B). In 2004, 9400 was converted to diesel (M11 engine), but the bus still had it's CNG intact. During the bus rebuild between 2005-2007, the rest of the CNG buses were converting to diesel and receiving a new engine, the Cummins M11.

Buses that were rebuilt:

  • Well, there's a rumor that the 9400s are slated to retired next year after the run cuts, many of them will be surplus. They're getting expensive to keep roadworthy, no point sinking thousands of dollars into a bus that'll just sit at the garage all day.

So 60 Orion VIIs are likely replacing them.

  • @ttct3 only routes that have them are the 29 and the 107

  • @ttc2353 14, 78, 115, and 125 previously used those (until they were converted to LF operation)
