  • In a retrospective hindsight, the 60's episodes were like dramatic pathos with humour thrown in. The 70's colour episodes more broad with jokes being chased, .rather than the poignant iinteraction between father and son. Nevertheless it was still a bloody good series. I discovered it more on DVD... Therefore it''s just a shame that Youtube reveals the extra's that would've been greatly appreciated on the BBC DVD boxset!

  • It still strikes me how much more respectful and polite British police are compared to American officers..especially nowadays.

  • without doubt the best thing that has and still remains to have come out of the BBC. only fools and horses is good but you can clearly see the writer of that stole stories and characters from steptoe. nice upload, thx.

  • @Babyhowdy233 Ah, the jump out of the weeds dig on America. Nice.

  • Poor Hercuwaaaaaa

  • @punditpete Think they did lot of location shooting around those sort of area's, cos it was all filmed at BBC Shephards Bush, which isn't million miles from Fulham, so wouldn't be surprised.

  • This is great, thanks for posting!

The audio of the rest of this sketch is on the website of the official steptoe and son appreciation society (under "society audio media")

  • Oh. Thanks for informing me.

  • It is impossible to recolourise the b/w seventies Steptoes by decoding the chroma - the tapes have (far) too narrow a bandwidth.

  • I should think it is virtually the only part of Steptoe that is lost. Unlike a lot of series from the sixties and seventies, all Steptoe episodes survive although the original colur episodes only exist in black-and-white. Perhaps these could be 'recolourised' using the 'chroma-dot' technique?

  • This pub looks like the eight bells on Fulham high street
