The SV HideAway, a Compac 23, is a shallow draft fixed keel sailboat that, common to boats of this nature, does not sail all that well to weather and has significant weather helm when the wind is up. Proper sail trim goes a long way to correcting these conditions. In this edition of The Adventures of the HideAways we look a the advantages of a loose footed main sail.

  • Thanks for the loose footed video. I've been thinking about trying it. The factory out-haul is a waste of line. Your experiment confirms my thoughts. Perhaps we could get together sometime and you could show me some good West Coast launching spots and a tour of your sailing spots. Thanks again.
