  • thanks for the comments... yes indeed there are corsets for men! it's not only women who like to adjust their silhouette and enjoy the feeling of restriction, just one of many reasons people are attracted to them. They were worn by men at the turn of the century to create a triangular form in line with changing fashions, so may also be used for male period costume. The human race is a varied and fascinating thing. Good luck with your corsets.

  • :D to super ecstatic. I stumbled upon your website almost 2 years back, but quickly lost passion for it, as I had just came back into the sewing swing. Recently I wanted to make a corset gown but couldnt find your tutorial, and other corseters were keeping their patterns tihtly under wraps. SUPER DUPER excited that I found it again :D thanx for the awesome tut.orial

  • thanks ill hopefully try this out after payday.

    .

  • @sacraficialangel7 Well, thats very logical sounding. It's still a bit hard to wrap my head around, cause up until now when I heard or thought of corsets I always thought "women's clothing" and now I find there are ones for guys.

  • @Cameronismy lol. It took me a while to get ised to the idea also. Corsets for men have to be made differently because our ribcages are different (women have 2 ribs at the bottom that "float", to make way for a baby bump). Also, male corsets don't make a man have an hourglass figure. Male corsets make the torso more triangular, i.e. bigger at the top and slimmer at the waist, to give the appearance of a stronger chest. They press back to front rather than from the sides, to give this appearance.

  • @sacraficialangel7 Mind = blown. I had no idea there were corsets for men.

  • @Cameronismy yes, there are corsets for men

  • It was a good website, but a bit too hard to make for me :(
