Megan: Let Me Grow Up 1/2

Fresh, revealing rites-of-passage documentary about withdrawn teenager Megan, who has delayed socialisation and entering the adult world.

Megan is home-schooled by her strict Jehovah's witness mum and dad and leads a life structured around rules and routines. We enter her life where she has to spend time with the family rather than others of her own age. Megan is ready for a change and her parents realise their first-born needs to be 'socialised', but where and how they do they do this?

But it isn't just Megan's parents that may be holding her back - Megan is terrified of talking to people of her own age and she worries about what they might think of her. She knows that she must make the effort, but is too scared to try.

To help her in this transition, Megan's mum and dad plan to arrange all her activities and propel their daughter into the outside world.

The film takes a rounded and thoughtful look at the family, primarily from Megan's perspective as she pushes the boundaries of her family and attempts to spread her wings.

Ok....this doesn't make sense....Witnesses aren't allowed to take Tai Kwan Do or Karate. These parents are "on the fence witnesses"...they're not really "in it". They probably call themselves JW's...that's about it. This is evidence How Children can turn out messed up from being in the religion. It destroys lives.
