I fedeli, come al solito, se la squagliano, mettendosi in salvo; Don Camillo va da solo, protetto unicamente dal suo coraggio e dalla sua fede, e gli oppositori, presi da un sentimento di rispetto, gli lasciano il passo.

@piontro He was anti-communist, he did a lot of anti-communist propaganda for the 1948 elections. But I don't think he would have supported DC at all if he had known what we know now - that it was a gang of thieves that ran the country based on mafia and corruption.
Actually, Guareschi was against all oppressive regimes and stopped supporting DC in 1953.
But whatever your political ideas are - you can always enjoy his books! I'm a socialist/communist myself but love reading his books anyway.
