The Least of These explores one of the most controversial aspects of American immigration policy: family detention. As part of the Bush administration policy to end what they termed the catch and release of undocumented immigrants, the U.S. government opened the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in May 2006 as a prototype family detention facility. The facility is a former medium-security prison in central Texas operated by CCA, the largest private prison operator in the country. The facility houses immigrant children and their parents from all over the world who are awaiting asylum or deportation.

  • Illegal immigrants cause me no wheres near the grief of an illegal government that illegally detains and tortures people for whatever reason.

  • @MIjal1524 I do do also. It cost this country to much money to detain them. It would be cheeper to have buses going back and forth. And I speak or write to people as they do me. Respect deserves respect ,,disrespect deserves disrespect. I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Peace

  • @hiwayjohnny

Then we should deport them right away, not keep them in Hutto. This documentary actually agrees with that.

I would also like to thank you for having a mature conversation on youtube about this, 90% of people would have been at the point of cursing and taking personal shots right now so it is nice to find someone willing to actually converse. Thank you.

  • @MIjal1524 Use the system to get on your feet then get off of it. That's what it's meant for. And do I need to remind you that most of the illegals that come here. Usually end up in gangs. Or our prisons. The tax payers should not have to foot the bills for these people. They are breaking the law by being here. Look at what's happened to arizona and texas and california. Botom line. If your here illegaly. You need to get the hell out and come back and do it right or don't come at all.

  • @MIjal1524 And a good majority of the time they move from place to place because they find out how easy it is to live rent free. They learn how much of a hassle and how much time it takes to get thrown out by the courts.

I have no problem with legitmate asylum. But don't come here and have babies for more welfare. Or because you can have them here free and not in your country. If you want to come to this country and be a citizen, Then do it the right way.

  • @MIjal1524 I agree they should be immediately taken back to the border and released or put on a bus plane whatever. And asylum has become the excuse to get in here. Then ounce your here. You go to your first hearing to discuss your case. After that you can go apply for services. Then you get lost and as long as you don't get busted. You can stay here forever and not get caught. Mean while cut the wages and skipping the benefits and shacking up 15 people in one apt. The damage I've seen caused.

  • apply for asylum until you are in the country. If they aren't supposed to be here then deport them, don't detain them in a facility that isn't fit for the adults let alone the children.

  • @hiwayjohnny

again I don't believe that is the issue being discussed, they should be deported if that's the case not detained. But to argue against your point, there were many people here before we immigrated, Native Americans. Also, many people can't come here legally due to the way the system is set up. Most of the people that come here illegally aren't after jobs they are after asylum due to some traumatic event in their home country, but the way the asylum system is set up you can't even

  • @MIjal1524 Yea if you want to get all technical about it . Yea we imigrated from britain to here. But bck then ther weren't millions of people. It's not right to go to a country that is willing to make you a citizen as long as you follow thier guide lines. To come here illegally nd take our jobs for cheaper wages using our welfare system while working off the books nd instead of investing thier money here. They send it back home. Come legally nd take the same wages as the rest don't undercut

  • @hiwayjohnny

this isnt about the adults that come illegally, its about the children that come with them. but while on the subject of the adults just remember that when the declaration of independence was signed, that was an act of high treason against what was then those people's ruling government. america was founded on illegal immigration.
