Well, you see... although the chickens, despite my scolding, love to swallow their mice whole - the gopher was a wee bit too intimidating and then there was the concern it might choke (the chicken). ...out of space, see next comment...

So to remedy the situation, I simply took the blade of my shovel and placing it gently on Mr. Gopher's neck, I jumped high into the air, coming down with all my great weight - thus slicing head and body, cleanly in two. Oh my, how the chickens were delighted! And they squawked and they pecked and fluffed and preened, smacking and clacking their beaks...those "free range organic" $6 per dozen eggs you buy at the natural foods store? They don't call em mighty OMEGA eggs for nothin!
