As for any "King of Diction" I still think that Schipa retains the title. However, RT comes ever so close.....& done w/such a clear, beautiful, clarion tone. Bravo!

Tucker was already married To Sara when in 1941 jan made his debut in this ROLE and he admired jan's tech. he MUST HAVE HEARD IT AND HE LISTENED TO PAUL ALTHOUSE IS TEACHER COMPLETELY WHO TAUGHT HIM TO DO IT LIKE THIS EAXACTLY-- SO GERMAN MAKES A POINT WELL TAKEN.

VERY GOOD performance by Tucker!!! I wish Sodero hadn't slowed the pace so many times, but, nonetheless, well worth hearing the young Tucker. Thank you VERY much for posting this!!!!!
From the start, Tucker had such a beautiful tone and line as well as an excellent dramatic sense. Thank you for sharing this early souvenir of a great artist.
