This is tooling I made for a PIC based human interface control. It's a nice way to automate tools around my shop. I modeled a VESA mount on the back of the case so I can use cheap VESA mounts to attach it to machines.

  • is this a standalone interface ? if so is there more information for building one?

  • @cwiliam Yes it's a control interface for automating stuff with a micro. I can make different PCB to fit the aplication I'm using it for.

  • Really nice job again mate...

What is the green material? Great idea, cast it, and then machine it... !

  • @Marcelmx3 I'm using Alumilites Replicator 400 . This is a casting urethane. It has a lot of good properties to it. And it's one of the cheaper casting urethanes out there. $65 for two gallons. I cast just a little larger then what I need for machine stock. It's cheaper then buying a block of Renshape to make prototypes with. This stuff polishes nicely as well so it's easy to clean up your part and cast against.

  • @microcnc05 Thanks... thats great info... I'll have to try this out one day to..

Ps we share a lot of hobby's im also a great fan of Picmicro chips, CNC only i cast aluminum :)

Ps is this urethane only for prototyping, or is it to be used as a final product ?

  • @Marcelmx3 I've cast aluminum and iron as well. I'm a pattern maker by trade but I enjoy it as a hobby as well. Just can't seem to get enough at work. :) You can use this urethane as a final product. I would recommend a clear resin for final product though. You can die it and cast it thinner than the replicator 400. But since this is what I had on hand I usually just use the replicator 400.
