Recently discovered this cool abandoned custom adobe-style house at the Salton Sea. It's located about three miles north of the North Shore Yacht Club. Definitely a custom-built home with lots of interesting rooms and features.

I have several hundred Salton Sea photos - including many of what is seen in this video - on my Flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/slworking/sets/72157605264326878/

The Salton Sea was once a popular place for boating, swimming, fishing, etc., but an increase in the salt level of the water caused large numbers of fish to die and the water became foul. This, in addition to a couple of hurricanes in the 1970's, caused the communities surrounding the sea to deteriorate.

The Salton Sea was recently featured on Life After People on the History Channel.

Grand reopening of the Salton Sea History Museum. Now located at 72-120 S. Lincoln Street (end of road across creek), Mecca, CA 92254

  • Hi could you email me the location of this house? thanks any help would be great thanks joe

  • @MrJoseph1157 Going to send you the location now.

  • Call me crazy, but I just fell in love with this crazy little house. Someone put alot of love and character into this little adobe home. That is a perfect little project home for someone for someone who ohhhh I dunno loves the Salton Sea and would like to see it as a healthy thriving enviroment again. Great vid thanx!

  • @KrissyinLA It's a very cool and unique house - with lots of character. I really like it, too. And fortunately it hasn't been too vandalized - unlike most of the other abandoned buildings in the area. It would be nice to see it fixed up someday.

  • Excellent find! On the south/west side of the highway? or north/east?

I didn't see many opportunities to explore off the highway while driving north from the NS Yacht Club.

  • @voiceman1234 This is just west of the highway. I'm send you the exact coordinately privately.

  • @kraftymomma1979 Me too. The next step is to fix up the Sea itself.

  • I never cease to be amazed at how people just seem to disappear from the Salton Sea, leaving their things behind. I'm hoping the Yacht Club renovation will bring new blood to the area.

  • @JennieAtTheSea Hi Jennie. I just sent you a message with the location of this place. Will certainly be attending the grand opening of the Yacht Club.

  • Hey there, can you email me privately and tell me where this really cool house is so I can check out its history?

Hope you make it down for the yacht club grand opening Saturday at 10 AM and bring everyone you know! We want a huge turnout.
