The 2009 Tuscola Mountaineers improved to 6-1-1 (4-0, AAC) on October 16, 2009 as they defeated their archrival- the Pisgah Black Bears 41-10. This win earned the Mountaineers the first "three-peat" in the series by either team since the early '90s and increased the Mountaineers' series lead to 24-21-1. This game was also selected as one of the Great American Rivalry Series games for 2009 and recieved national attention. The Mountaineers recieved a trophy from G.A.R.S. and Tyler Brosius was named MVP.
