Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces were renewed on Sunday when Israeli troops forcefully entered the mosque and attacked worshippers by beating them, firing tear-gas shells and rubber-coated bullets; while claiming that Palestinian worshippers threw stones at them. Al Aqsa is now practically under siege. People are not allowed in, and more than 100 youths are still inside the mosque, prepared to defend it from any further attacks by the Israeli forces. Despite what has been reported by Jerusalem police Chief Dudi Cohen that Israel has no intention entering the mosque right now, and considering the several attacks on the mosque during the last few months, it cannot be confirmed that what Israeli officials say, is what Israel will comply with.

Biblically speaking, the land of Israel rightfully belongs to the Jews because God promised and gave the land to Abraham, the Father of the Jews, and renewed this promise or covenant to Abraham's son Isaac and to Isaac's son Jacob (later renamed Israel by God) who begat twelve sons from whom the twelve tribes of Israel was established as a nation as described in Genesis 12:1-3; 17:7,8 and 17:19-21.

The Dome of the Rock is built on the most sacred ground for Jews, which is why it will not be destroyed - a third temple cannot be built until the Jewish Messiah comes (probably won't happen). The original temples covered Al Aqsa and the place where the dome was built, the media often confuses them.

@ChoofMonster agaain and again, this is not al aqsa. This is the rockdome.
In the media they always show the wrong building, so that everyone believes this is al aqsa so when they break it down they can succeed building up the temple of suleymon for the third time. they know they cant touch al aqsa, so they just make believe it is just another place.

The Israeli government protects Al Aqsa against militant Zionists and Protestants who encourage them to rebuild the Temple in its place, but the police force (not the IDF) is allowed to protect Temple Mount visitors from being attacked.
So-called "Messianic Jews", who are actually Christians, are deported or imprisoned when they call for the destruction of the mosque (they think that Jesus will return if this occurs).
Al Aqsa is safe, but calling in the army would lead to a third intifada.
