I think differently than most people because I absolutely believe in creation and a creator but I no longer believe the typical Christian viewpoint....or any other organized religion's concept for that matter and further more I think that the leaders of all organized religious groups are not only greedy but also arrogant and vain and need to be in the limelight as well as control/influence every one around them.... ....(much like all politicians). contd

There's actually a name for this (assuming you also believe that the "Creator" set things going and then left things alone). It's called Deism, and I absolutely respect that idea. It claims to know nothing of the Creator and assumes nothing regarding God's intervention in our lives, an afterlife, etc... Totally reasonable!

I'm right with you. Unfortunately, many won't leave it at that. If only God had said in one of the Holy Books, "Live and let live," the world would be such a better place. Instead, there's kill this person if they do this, kill this person if they do that, and if someone doesn't believe x kill them so I can torture them forever. I don't know why anyone needs BELIEFS. Why can't we all just admit that we don't know what caused everything and work towards finding out?

Actually even though Deism is...should I say...less benign than theistic claims. Its assertion is still based on ignorance and actually not reasonable. Claiming that a intelligence got everything off and running has as much credibility as saying a magical unicorn passed wind to start the universe. Both are claims with zero evidence and supports itself merely by an unknown. The answer should be - We don't know - however all cosmological evidence points towards naturalistic causation's thus far.

The big bang wasn't an explosion, it was an expansion of spacetime and mass/energy. It was probably not accidental at all, but an inevitable result of quantum physics and the inherent instability of "nothingness". It likely wasn't the only such occurrence, there are likely other universes some causally linked to our own, others not. Even if the evidence suggested it was completely accidental and random, personal incredulity is not a good argument against it, it's a logical fallacy.

I've always thought that if there is a god, then the deist/watchmaker god is the only option still plausible at all, given the current state of scientific knowledge. Personally, I couldn't care less what people want to believe, no mater how unsupported or nonsensical it may be, but many theists have this annoying trait of claiming speculation as fact and using force of arm or law to enforce such speculative superstition in some way onto others.

Did you really just address mr deity with a lion king reference? For shame, I bet that kind of jew-hating filth never crosses his screens... (His kid was one of THOSE people.)

well, your believe is very unspecific. if you imply that as "we" continue to live on in some form other than our physical material being, then why do we not remember anything of this life before?

in a very philosophical way we DO live on, our bodies become buildingblocks for future beings, like the circle of live story from lionking.

All in all.... I can't for the life of me conclude that we and everything we know of, such as our galaxys etc... were just the result of an accidental explosion. Life and everything about it is too intricate to be just that but I do believe in a few basic principals. 1) WE ALL pray to the same creator.... Our souls live on infinitely and even possibly partake in multiple lives etc..... until we get "IT" right and that EVERYTHING including science, ghosts and the like ALL tie in somehow.
