Government is like a cancerous growth. The economy is going into the crapper, but the government is hiring at record numbers, specifically hiring those most unable to crack it in the private business structures, and they in turn become whores for the state (as long as that check keeps coming they'll do whatever their government supervisors tell them to do). Government, like cancer, is a smart organism, that knows how to imbed and adapt itself into the host environment. Our "state" is weakened.
