Here is the great American baritone Theodor Uppman with Allen Rogers, piano, performing five art songs. From an Internos LP of 1962 -- not the VAI release of "The Art of Theodor Uppman"!
1. "Sweet Chance That Led My Steps Abroad" MICHAEL HEAD
2. "The Greatest Man" CHARLES IVES
3. "Simple Gifts" arr. AARON COPLAND
4. "I Rise When You Enter" THEODORE CHANLER
5. "Maple Candy" JOHN SACCO

If my last name is Uppman,
am I related to him.?

Michael Head is not an American composer. He's British.

Thank you for these beautiful songs by the great baritone Uppman - I remember him as Pappageno and meeting him after a concert . I was seated across from him at a dinner - He was a real gentleman in addition to being a great talent and handsome!

Truly a wonderful presentation of the classical song literature that is almost never heard anymore, except at universities, a few recital venues, and on recordings. Mr. Uppman sings all of them with great beauty and expression. His wonderful sound and handsome features reminds me, a little bit, of Nelson Eddy.
