This entertaining video is based on a public lecture at NASA Research Park by Joel R. Primack, one of the world's leading cosmologists, and Nancy Ellen Abrams, a lawyer, writer, and musician. Primack and Abrams are coauthors of THE VIEW FROM THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE: DISCOVERING OUR EXTRAORDINARY PLACE IN THE COSMOS (Riverhead/Penguin, 2006). The DVD includes spectacular astronomical videos with music by Abrams and by R. Carlos Nakai. Primack is a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Abrams and Primack teach a course on "Cosmology and Culture" at UCSC.

  • According to NASA, Otterville, Ontario, Canada, is the center of the universe.

  • @Pulsar205 you don't understand .... :)

  • That animation of coming out of our galaxy near 00:40 is fantastic!

  • @TheReasonWhyGuy If the universe had a beginning it must have a leading edge advancing into the void.

If you were near that region you'd see a thinning out of galaxies.

  • The universe is edgeless, the declaration of centered'ness is only due to our spherical observability field. At another place in the universe, our perspective of our centered-ness would be the same.

Thebadastronomer did a good job of explaining this.

  • though its a wild guess that u made the universe in a circle shape....i have contremplated that fact based on the analysis thyat all other matter in trhe universe such as planets and the stars are also of circular designations....but as for you guys knowing the centre of the universe ..thats of course ...still early since we dont know the exact four corners of the universe yet....anyways good stuff

  • fabulous book
