Here's another video shot from my deck of our monthly public warning siren system test. 4 out of the 5 sirens in town can be heard once again. Unlike last month, our 12 port 5 sounded for the full test, you can better hear the WS 2008 controled on the AR timer (the one that starts and stops), and the 12 port 7 is not heard that well, but still audible (listen carefully for a lower toned siren). Also the siren activation tones were sent out twice, once to active the inital siren signal, and again after one cycle. I suspect, our EM director checked on our now dead Model 2 afterthe 1st activation, and tried unsucessfully to see if it would activate (he probably also tried to activate it manually, unsucessfully). I had to edit over the voice, siren (both times), and cancel tones for security reasons. I have a good relationship with our OEM and I want to keep it that way. I won't be recording the siren test next month, as I'll be in Florida at that time. There are 2 Federal DSAs and a MOD4016 Modulator (4 active cells) very close to where I'm staying. I may get lucky and catch one of them sounding (hopefully the Mod), but there's no guarentee as I have no clue when they're tested.

anyway, enjoy

  • Why would CT need tests? Nothing really THAT BAD happens. Lol

  • scary

  • now i liv in vernon

  • when a house burnt down

  • i had a video of a siren in sublimity oregon

  • I live in Connecticut and tornadoes are not all that common because we just get all of the wind rain and thunderstorms.

  • What are these sirens used for? Tornado warnings, I assume, but I didn't think tornadoes were all that common in CT. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Here in Western Oregon, we rarely get thunderstorms, let alone any tornadoes. We don't even have sirens for any occasion - sometimes wildfire sirens up in the mountains, but those are WAY to far for me to hear (60+ miles?).

I find sirens a little creepy! This was a nice video, though eerie.

    Thanks for posting!
