A Little Prayer

This video was part of the entry portfolio submitted to the art school I'm currently in now. We were supposed to explain our reasons for wanting to be in the school through this video, quite like an interview. After brainstorming my ideas, I came up with this simple animation to convey my message. Looks silly and kiddy, but I guess... that's very me... heh.

Ingredients: mayang.com texture, Studio Ghibli CD music, my illustrations, cooked using AfterEffects... Made in Singapore.

omg you got in? I'm from nyp dmd too man (animation), graduating this year but still undergoing the inhuman torture of fypj. I want to enrol in adm too! gosh how i wish i can talk about your admission process in detail man.

Yoz, fellow DMD-er! All the best for your fypj there and just throw in what you have for the admission portfolio. It should be easier since you should be readying all your works for graduation show ;) The writing will be painful though... And just wondering, have you thought of why you wanna enter adm, especially since there are other schools around?

Oh well I'm not sure if I can ready up in time for this year's intake man.. fypj is driving me nuts and all my works are all over the place... Admissions close end of Feb right? And theres still the submission video.. haha..

My batch (07 grads) faced the dilemma of being rushed to apply too. There was only about 3 from the entire cohort who managed to submit their stuff, and what's the content? Their grad show portfolio, showreel (edited slightly to include their reasons) and a few pages of crapping... And yea, they got in and are now my seniors. =_= If you can't ready your stuff for this year, there's always next, get some working experience while chalking up your portfolio with more works. Sanity first...

i wanna go there too but i think i wont be accepted, its kinda hard and my school report arent great lol, what did you do on the written test??

Can't remember what I did for the written test other than it being pretty bad then... (cos I felt the content of my answers were pretty shallow). I do heard that some students who scored pretty average in their previous schools getting the entry to adm. Guess the portfolio and video plays a big role there. If you want, just give it a try, at least know why you want to go there. All the best!

wow.. i reckon they must had some great works to show man! So sorry to ask another question, im really really keen on getting into the course!

Is gpa really detrimental to your admission into ADM?

My gpa will stand at around 2.5-2.6, so im really not confident about that aspect as I know its really low.. (I feel that it doesn't reflect my skill at all) I'll make a good demo reel to show that but i'm still very afraid that my gpa on my transcript will eventually pull me down..

Any advice? (:

I wanna enter adm cuz its like a full uni education, and I get to take other modules which are not relevant to animation, such as animation history, psychology and other stuff, which other animation schools in singapore don't offer.. more for the overall experience of a uni life... haha and also because I really really really like animation!

Hey thanks :) This was for the School of Art, Design and Media of Nanyang Technological University, in Singapore. Quite a new school actually... and yeap, I got in. The images of the vid were prepared seperately, but brought together with aftereffects 6.5.
