Intel and PC makers are pushing ultrabooks hard this year... and they are excellent little computers which hit a sweet spot between small size and big features.
But with prices around $1000 and up, will anyone buy them? And if the prices drop to $700 or below.. will PC makers still push them?
How is $1000 expensive?? Laptops cost more than $1000 anyways.

I think you are right in your assessment of ultrabooks. Personally, I am a Mac person and I own a current gen 8 Core Mac Pro, 1st Gen Macbook Pro, iPhone 4 and iPad 2 3G. For my line of work (Post Production, Video Editing) I need a powerful, quick system. Most people might not see the point in spending a premium on SSDs and quick processors if their primary use is just web browsing and word processing. So while there may be a market for it, the price will need to come down for most to jump.

You got very lucky there Brad. I wish I could have gone to CES. There's always next year though ^_^

I don't think that this price is a problem for the target market, which is much less price sensitive. It is important not to confuse one's own price sensitivity with that of all market segments. Note also, a top model 13" MacBook Air is still close to 2,000 USD.
