man i seen this with my 50mm scope, just like in the video

this is truly amazing, understanding that we may have our view points on observing the night sky but all it is really is the feeling of knowing your seeing it through your very own eyes! Very Soon im gonna buy my very own 10"dob and i know i will not be disappointed =) thank you

To see the Orion Nebula just find Orion in the winter months. Then look at Orions belt. After this; look down between the first and second stars in the belt. You should see a cluster of stars. Zoom in on this; you wil see the Orion Nebula. Don't worry if you have binoculars or a small telescope. The Orion Nebula can be seen will this equipment as well. Enjoy!!!! -Jacob Messer

@ChrissyoSpace nice veiw! Mine is a bit brighter, but it seems much smaller scale... good job!

@gaz52 So not true.

@Oscar847 to see the Orion nebula, just look down from the belt in the constellation of Orion :)

nice color!
hey where do i point my telescope to look at orion and other nebalues and galaxies?
what telescope are you using ?? Why didnt you tell us that. You said 1250mm focal length but not how big the main lens is . I assume tho from the focal length you have a 8" Dobson mounted scope am i right

It's a 10" Newtonian. It originally came on a Dobsonian mount, but I've since upgraded and bought an EQ6 for it.

Were you at a dark site when you took this video? Did the view at the eyepiece look alot better than what this video took? In my light polluted skies through my new 8" the view of the orion nebula is amazing. My 4.5" looked like what the video recorded, but in my 8" I saw the wings of the nebula coming from the sides of the nebula and it was much brighter and elongated. You have a 10" so your views much be better than mine, maybe its just the camera or a lot of light pollution :/.

Yeah, the view through the telescope by eye was much better than that given with this camera. Light pollution wasn't the cause (I live in a fairly light pollution free area) - it was the camera. It's just a regular video camera running at 30FPS. Not good at all for dimmer objects like the orion nebula.

What deep-sky objects can I see with a 60mm refractor?...I know, it's a poor diameter, but I'd like to know if I can see any other objects besides M45 (the famous "Pleiades" open cluster).

I'm not really sure, I'm not too familiar with telescopes other than my own and I don't spend much time on deep-sky stuff. But you should see some of the brighter stuff I suppose, Orion Nebula, Omega Centauri, M4. You'd probably do better asking someone with more experience than me.
