Maori Queens final journey down Waikato

Small portion of Maori Queen Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu's final trip (15km) down the Waikato River in Tainui's waka to Taupiri mountain, where she was then laid to rest. Hers was escorted by six other waka's. (sorry about the shaking!)

the boats remind me of the snake boats races in god's own counry of kerala.especially the snake boat races in the enchanting backwaters of Alleppey .The boat races in kerala always fine tune itself with the harvest festival of Onam.A Himalayan Kiora to all my lovely jubbly Maori Mates.Cheers.
