Dublo Standard 4 and Stanier 8F on 20+ wagon freight. These engines are part of my collection of Dublo model trains made by Meccano from 1938-1964. I deliberately ran this train as slowly as I could; the standard 4 in particular has a considerable turn of speed! The 8F doesn't break any speed records, but it's a real nice loco to watch, I personally rate it the best that Meccano made.

  • I Have been trying to stage a crash with my Hornby Train set, its not working out. Any suggestions?

  • @Dylzz82 Well I wouldn't! In the case of this layout I'm concerned not to damage the items, so I try to avoid such occurrences. If you are running Modern Hornby with conventional 2-rail wiring then a head on collision isn't possible. End on collisions can occur if you have two trains on a circuit and one stops or stalls.

  • @JimTLonW6 I Tried the "End On Collison" at very high speeds, but it turned out rather disastrous.

  • @Dylzz82 Yes it would! I think it would have derailed the whole of the preceding train and thrown rolling stock everywhere, including on the floor if you are on a table.

On the whole model railways tend to have quite enough derailments anyway without looking for more!

  • I like the way british trains look!

  • Thanks Raymond, glad you like it! Although rather old these models remained in small scale production until quite recently under the 'Wrenn' label. There is a large collector's organisation devoted to Dublo.

  • @Dylzz82 - Yeah, find some cheaper trains (Lima, Life-Like, Model Power, early Bachmann, etc.) to crash for one.

  • Your video is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's railway centenary tobacco cards and a short clip of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway.

  • Thanks - too kind! This is my most popular clip, when I've got a proper video, another layout, and some reasonable lighting I'll try some more!

This train is composed of Dublo all metal wagons, the mineral wagons were cast mazac, the tanks are rolled metal. All wagons have metal wheels. The combination of these with the Dublo metal track makes the noise level quite considerable.

  • great clip and great to see Hornby-Dublo running and perfect they way that freight saunters around the bend you can hear the couplings and the buffers clash
