Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Brig. General Ken Cox from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers share preliminary results from Trinity River levee inspections conducted by the Corp of Engineers. The inspections are part of a 5-year nationwide study of levees initiated by the Corp following Hurricane Katrina. Despite the possibility of an unacceptable rating, Dallas officials are committed to moving the Trinity River Corridor Project forward and have already begun making some noted improvements. The Trinity River Corridor Project is the largest public works project in Dallas history and includes flood control, transportation, recreation, and economic development components.
