"Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) interweaves images form Jean Genet's masterpiece, Un Chant d'Amour with images from gay male sex films. It forces the viewer to question the point of view in looking at "pornographic" images. A.I.D.S. hysteria portrays gay sex as pornographic, politically incorrect, sinful, or, at best, a public health hazard. Ecce Homo asks whether the taboo is against gay sex or against seeing gay sex." A film by Jerry Tartaglia, 1989. Available at http://www.ubu.com/film/tartaglia.html

  • Really well-made. I can't believe we can see this on youtube, though. I guess the uploader found a loophole because it was art. The nice thing about it was, even though it had blatantly hardcore pornography superimposed on images from Un Chant d'Amour, it wasn't in the least bit pornographic, imo. Then again, "pornography" is a social construct anyway.

  • This is overwelming. Fascinating and disturbing at the same time.

    Good work.

  • why hasnt this been taken down? i dont care about it being gay and that, who the fuck cares? but what about all the blow jobs and cumshots?

if this is allowed then why not some straight out porn?

  • Brave, beautiful, and great film art, Genet was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. This was inspired by him. please read his novels, starting with,I would suggest, The Thief's Journal. All you gay guys especially should read him. Please forgive me for my grammatical errors, but it's 3 am and I'm totally wasted.

  • A fairly blatant breach of the you-tube guidelines.... you should probably take it down before it gets reported.

  • I made Ecce Homo in 1989 in response to the anti-sex hysteria that emerged in America as a result of the A.I.D.S. epidemic. There were actual "sex-police " patrolling the bathouses in San Francisco. Some crypto-facist American politicians proposed tattooing everyone who was HIV positive. The merging of Doctor and Cop is examined in the film via the Genet reference. The film was included in the Whitney Museum's "Art of the 20th Century" show. Thanks for posting this film. Jerry Tartaglia.
