SIGH, It really breaks my heart that little Edie never had her dreams come true. & Never found true love. Spending 80% of her life trapped in the Grey Gardens estate. Becoming a prisoner of her loving; but BATSHIT "Yea I said it" Batshit insane mother. & I deeply believe if Little Edie was a bit more stronger emotionally she could have become a actress just as successful as Audrey Hepburn or Betty Davis in her own way. She really was a star, Shame no one ever saw that until she was dead. R.I.P

It's brilliant, in a sad, emotive, revealing, and intimate portrayal of two woman the likes of which we shall not see again, get taken into a forgotten time and place and marvel at their take on the world, a true rags to riches in reverse but with such human warmth and emotion, i will never tire of watching this amazing documentary.........

The reason they are so fascinating is because they had it all: priveledge, wealth, education, living in high society.
When her ex husband lost most of his money during the crash, he stopped giving Biig Edie support. He never payed alimony. Their existence was a co-dependent realtionship. They survived somehow, even with their mental inadequacies, that is a hugh thing! So many people fall throught the cracks but do not survive. And they did it with extreme optimism!

My favourite part of this trailer is the part where you have the shots of the beautiful New Hampton mansions with their perfect facades and manicured lawns - and then you get Grey Gardens, which looks dead and haunted. It's like a slap in the face. Great editing.
