With instrumental music there could be trizillions of interpretations (or perceptions) to one composition. Add lyrics and, the same composition becomes (in 99% of the cases) one dimensional.
99% of singers aren't poets or writers.

instrumental rock trumps all rock because vocals make or break a band. With instrumental you're just guaranteed quality instrumentation

I feel you man. Its pretty lame when people dig something when it's tiny and don't like it anymore when the band gets bigger. A lot of kids that are into indie are like that. Punk too. But musics for everyone man. You got the right idea.
