  • Im trying to star addictive drums in ableton live 8 just like you said: 1. I go to the plug in browser 2. I click on activate and I choose the xln folder from my hard drive. But it doesnt find anything. what am I doing wrong? Maybe you can help me?

  • Most VST's need to be installed in your system's (win/mac) default VST folder. Install it there, next activate the default folder instead of a custom folder. That should work.

If that doesn't help, perhaps the guys at xlnaudio know the answer? I haven't personally used that VST.

    Lemme know!

  • Anytime guys! Hope to do some more soon!

  • I know this is an old video. But any clue as to why I don't have "Use Audio Units". I'm in the "File/Folder" tab, but that option is not there. Same with the "Use VST-Plugins System Folders", also not there... Running v8.0.1

  • all suite-instruments sound like plastic! save your money and get NI Komplete 7! Live8 and NI K7 is the most powered pair of music-software!!!

  • The BEST videos for Ableton beginners, hands-down. Thank you!!

  • Finally found something for an absolute beginner! Thanks.

  • Why do I have only "Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder" and VST Plug-In Custom folder" without "Audio Units" and "Use VST Plug-In System Folders"?

  • @MrErocdar Ahh yes. Different programs don't always use the same vst system folder. Glad you made it work :)

  • @Whaffel I was trying to get some Native Instruments stuff to work.. in the video there were options to enable that were not in my Ableton... but i just dragged all my DLL files into one place and assigned that folder to the root vst folder.... including NI vsts. With FL studio it located all that shit on its own, no matter where it was unless it was JUST a DLL file, then I had to drag it into the specified spot. It's all good, now. Thanks for responding.

  • @MrErocdar Hey. Wow, this was 10 months ago. Can't remember why I needed it in the first place. But if you tell me what you're trying to get working I might be able to help. What vst are you trying to install?

  • @Whaffel Hey have you found an answer to your question? I'm having the same problem right now.

  • THX

  • Thank you so much for these tutorials, I am currently an FL guy but am deciding to make the switch to ableton. These tutorials are great for making a=the transition between audio production programs.
