During 2007 - 2009, both John Nejedly and Bob Brooks did not pay their fair share of taxes during a time of teacher layoffs and classroom consolidation. John and Bob finally paid their taxes only when they decided to run for County Assessor. Seriously, how are tax payers in Contra Costa expected to pay their taxes, when we can't even get our elected officials to pay? Vote Responsibly.

  • While the candidates' behavior is despicable and their excuses are lame, there is no direct correlation between the timeliness of their tax payments and the level of school funding in CoCo County. School funding is formulaic and done at the state level. The Treasurer/Tax Collector remits the taxes collected to the State's general fund. I would hardly call the incumbent "responsible." His antics have cost the County millions of dollars in legal fees and settlements.

  • We really need to get out there and vote. It is extremely important as Californian's to vote for the right candidates. Contra Costa, we need a change. Something has to be done...education is extremely important and should never be short-changed!! We need to invest in our future..we need to help improve our schools. We need a responsible County Assessor!!
