  • Fantastic game and commentary

  • Also, very useful to hear what you say about opening the position when youre ahead in development in order to make your pieces useful. I have a grasp of the basic opening principles but its these more general ideas that I think I need to hold in mind if Im ever going to get any better... though seeing GM games analysed where someone plays the Alekhine Defence makes me think that its knowing when to break the rules that can make a player great.

  • My opponent got into serious trouble after this so its interesting to see that a professional would also not take the pawn in a similar position, even when the counter threats are far less severe.

  • Very interesting to see that the queen doesnt take on b2. I just play for fun against like-minded opponents, but it reminded me of a game I played recently as white that began:

    1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 dxc3 4. Bf1c4 cxb2 5. Bc1xb2 Bf8b4 6. Nb1d2 Qd8g5 7. Ng1f3 Qg5xg2

  • Excellent game. Thanks for the instructive commentary.

  • Nice threat of Rd1 at theend which Black cannot prevent.

  • Excellent commentry - great game from a highly original player. Well done!
