Lumenbeing from Los Angeles asks: "Since we're hearing a lot of talk about the implications of Page Speed, I wonder if Google still cares as much about relevancy? Or are recentness and page load time more important?"

Page load speed is a good item to factor into the mix however only up to a point. Does this mean that all things being equal those with the deepest pockets who can afford super fast servers gain ??

I have control of many websites and at least 12 of my own. I prefer WordPress, tried 60 web hosts I believe managed WordPress hosting WP engine, ZippyKid, Web synthesis, Pagely & Presslabs with WordPress. For non-WordPress I prefer FireHost with DynECT DNS, along with an edge cast CDN running on with their load balancers off of solid states in their Arizona data center UK, or data pipe, pair & bluebox(net) are top notch hosts. page speed equals happy users that makes Google happy

With speed being only one of the 200 factors that are considered, it is a very small issue.

Not to mention that it opens up the window for hosting companies to start gouging by charging more money for speedier hosting packages based purely on Google ranking. Forget about anyone on shared servers, although they might have highly relevant information on their websites.

IMO while the speed factor "sounds" like a good idea, ultimately it wouldn't be.The reason I say this is because with all of the hosting companies I have used in the past as a long time webmaster and developer, it tends to very often be beyond your control as a website owner, how fast your site is. Sure, you can tweak until you lose your mind, but then the hosting company ends up messing with their hardware, or a myriad of other factors that end up giving your website highly fluctuating speeds.

Wait, if you had two sites that were identical in content and one loads up faster than the other... If that happened, I always thought google would flag one or both a spam. Why on earth would there be two sites with the same exact content?

maybe someone who has a site like mine, where the main key is 100% relevant but they are still not getting the desired positioning which will lead some people to be unsure. Not everoyne is a SEO expert.
