I've got one, and it's the 1.7 liter model. Considering it has just 80 HP, most modern compact cars will bury it in straight-line acceleration; however, it was pretty fast back in the 70s! The 914 has three advantages: 50/50 weight distribution, low center of gravity, and light weight. As a result, it is incredibly nimble and responsive--like a Lotus Elise. The 914 routinely wins Porsche's North American annual autocross events, even squaring off against modern Boxsters, Caymen, 911s, and GTs.
