  • My Mom passed away 8/27/2008. Today, 9/5/08 is Her Birthday. She would have been 77 years old. This was the number one song on the day she was born Sept 5, 1931. How appropriate!!! Miss you Ma, I love you.

  • Heard this song as theme tune to 'First of the summer wine' thought that the two went together so well.

  • Love Monk's version w/ Coltrane, but the bridge is elusive. Thanks for the pure melody, not to mention the lyrics!

  • I came here because of "I Love Lucy!" Already knew the song, but they made it so funny in one epsiode.

  • Perhaps the epitome of early thirties pop - before Swing came into view

  • @ingiliz1 It does fit very well. I had the tune stuck in my head and had to look it up ;)

  • Wonderful !

  • Great song - one of the kind they don't write any more. That's why I love the 1930s songs so much. This version is mediocre though. Never mind - anything is better than nothing,

  • Well I am not sure that you will believe this but I first heard this number performed by the 1960's R&B-soul group, Cliff Bennett & The Rebel Rousers who incorporated it (a radically different version than this one of course) into their live set. It also appeared on their 1965 debut album. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing this version too - thanks!

  • So who's voice is this Donald or Gus?

  • There's also a live recorded radio show version of this that's really great too! It's kinda an intro at The Coconut Grove or something & the band goes into the song, "You Don't Need Glasses To See I'm In Love". Rich Conaty played this on his radio show, "The Big Broadcast". "Great Stuff!"
