I interpret my film This meal was . as a piece of experimental video rooted in the tradition of social realism. This is a film that reveals the social context of its participants by documenting their eating habits and social interactions. A film that records one meal shared by four people during a period in their lives when they are starting less than extravagant new lives in the country of their parents birth. Parents who forty years prior left an impoverished country as economic migrants in search for prosperity in Australia.
