Kara DioGuardi on American Idol Season 9 and Jazz

Kara DioGuardi -- and all that jazz! The "American Idol" judge sat down with "Extra" to talk about the new season of the show, where she revealed many of the singers have "jazz voices." "I've been looking back at the tapes because we're getting ready for Hollywood week, and there's some really good singers -- a lot of jazziness going on this year, lots of jazz voices," Kara reveals. DioGuardi, who joined the judging panel last season, tells "Extra" it's a relief not to be the new girl anymore.

"It feels good, it feels really good -- it was kind of rough there for a minute last year, but I feel really excited about the show," she says. When asked what advice she'd give new girl Ellen DeGeneres, Kara says, "Ellen is fabulous -- she's amazing. She's going to come on that show, she loves music, she's got great energy, and she's going to bring a fresh perspective. The only advice I can give to her is be Ellen -- we love Ellen!"
