  • There are some new videos of these pilot boats in rough weather, search Violent storm force 11, well worth a view.

  • If they stoped the ship, all the pilot boats dynamic stability and steerage would be lost, as would the ships, and it would be harder to do the job, clearly you dont know what your talking about, and are obviously an angry, bitter individual to have posted such a shit coment to start with!

  • All ships, boats, yachts any water craft have to have water flowing past their rudders to steer. The last thing one wants especially in confined waters is to lose steering control..its akin to a stall of a airplane or worse still a stall on final approach to land. So all water craft must keep up movement to avoid this with the optimal speed depending on the design of the ship, boat etc. just like different planes have different stall speeds

  • came for the title, stayed for music... thumbs up bitches

  • Excellent video, but please make a habit of not walking between the boat and the ship, it's not good practice even when you have a good lee side, a rogue wave or wash from another ship often catches people out...speaking from experience....

  • Respect for the Pilot. to restrain such a small boat with such troubled waters really is rare. Skipping the fact that it also had much luck :-).

  • awesum video mate.. click on my name iv put a a wellington NZ pilot vid aswell.. if u ever in NZ cum out fer a ride.. catchya.

  • How fast were you moving down that following sea?

  • excellent video, Imho there's no need of Pink Floyd music. Let the rough work singing itself.

  • again, really skillful editing/sound synch, in boat-water motion as well as close-up and tele choices. I like the way Interceptor pilot skills shown alongside large ship. Thanks

  • and the engine? Is volvo with DP propulsion or IPS

  • @seyedalijavid Pink Floyd : Comfortably Numb watch?v=tkJNyQfAprY

  • Boarding a ship not under way or at anchor in heavy weather is very difficult and dangerous keeping the vessel on a set course and spees allows the cutter to nip into the slip stream of the larger vessel where the worst of the swell is depressed by the forward movement of the lager vessel. At a standstill the differential of the two vessel sizes on the swell becomes scarily apparent when your attempting to board either way hats off to the pilots and crews been there its a real white knuckle ride
