@Furienna There is a part in the book where even if the Lady of the Lake had been there herself to deliver the baby & they had used all the power of the Goddess to bring it about, she still would have thought it the work of her God and have raised her child to be just as fanatically Christian as she was. She would have raised a child to hate the Old Religion & the Goddess of Avalon.

@phoenix1985: Which she did that because she thought her infertility was a punishment from God for letting Arthur acknowledge the old religion along with Christianity. And maybe we can't be sure, but I think that if she had gotten a child, she would care about that child and cause less trouble.

@Furienna Even if she had born a child she still would have been a Christian fanatic. She made Arthur forsworn to Avalon by putting aside the Pendragon banner and putting aside the Goddess for the God and the Druids for the Priests.
