  • I want to believe these Xaviere Strats are better than an SX ($99.00) strat but ..... Sx comes in Alder the Necks are reportedly As good as the MIM or better So, It looks like a $99.00 guit w New GuitFetish PUPs and 22.00 for upgraded tuners Yields the best Bank for the Buck. Sorry to say GF is selling a Poplar body w/ a not so hot neck. Where is the upside. $169.00 vs.$99.00 to start. If they fix the neck and build the guit w/ Alder ....I Like the wHITE W/ MAPLE NECK - nICE pLAYING

  • I've never tried an SX but all this guitar needed was a truss rod adjustment to play well. The poplar was extremely resonant and I got along well with the neck. I sold it a while ago but wouldn't mind having another, although I'll probably get a Fender next time. Good luck, thanks for checking this out!

  • you convinced me. amazing tone! i got a roland cube 18, what settings are you at?

  • Classic stack with gain at about 2, and reverb at 3 o'clock. Good luck!

  • @neol0pht

Parker uses Poplar in its Fly Deluxe models - I owned one and it sounds a lot better and more resonant than any Alder bodied strat I ever owned or played

Alder isn't all its cracked up to be & Poplar is way better then what people that don't know pretend.

  • Fantastic tone!!! Sorry you sold it, I think for the price point the Xaviere's are great!

  • @neol0pht A year late, I know, but to comment: The SX Hawk has absolutely *nothing* on the Xaviere XV-870. I like SX and own some of their instruments, but there really is no contest. Xaviere uses nothing but good components all around, and their attention to detail is pretty great at the price point. With the SX I'd find myself replacing nearly everything -- nut, hardware, pots, pups, etc. With a little bit of work, or sometimes no work, I feel that the Xaviere's match or exceed MIMs.

  • @fleamichael0 Gonna have to agree and disagree there. SX are indeed good guitars but the lower end ones (See $99) can be fixed up to play almost or just as good as an MIM Fender Strat. Just fix up stuff like the stock pickups and different tuners is the way to go. Xaviere have great hardware like the bridges, nuts and pickups but things like the neck and general wood used fall a bit short. SX use, I believe, Alder which is better than poplar.

  • From what I've seen...

If you want a guitar that's gonna already have great stuff, buy the Xavier

If you want a guitar that you can fix up just as nice for less, buy the SX.

  • how's the brigde and tuners on this guitar?

  • It didn't need a fret level?

  • @LuckyBobJo i picked up an sx tele also. i expected it to sound and feel like a decent $99 guitar. tuners were crap and i had to resolder the input jack but it sounds SO good!. the neck pickup is so fat. hung in there with my friend's tele which has lollar pickups in it. i'd say go sx

  • I've got an SX Tele it is excellent in every way. I think SX is good my Xaviere is less good. Sorry

  • Poplar and Alder have exactly the same properties for guitar bodies. Ive got poplar MusicMan guitars.....Alder/Ash and other strats.

Alder and poplar are the closest woods for the same sound/density/weight/tone....so why not use it in place of Alder for a strat? Its a hell of alot lighter than my Ash Strats!

Every MIM strat Ive got has needed a little tweaking...sharp frets/tone block change/locking tuners etc.....to really make them sing and they were alot more money than these run.
