Playback speed is taken care of finally.

I should have spent more time on the rotoscoping, but hey this is just a small little composite.

For the blenderheards:

I first checked to make sure that my frame size in blender was matched to the frame size of the video. I then loaded the video into my background image.

Modeling:
It was a simple cylinder, with a shadeless white material applied to it. I then used an armature to make animating easy.

Nodes:
I then took the nodes and duplicated the render layer 3 times, and added 2 blur filters (one for the inner aurora and one for the outer) I used an add filter, and then a curves for color.

Rendering:
I then rendered the blade, with composite selected, mblur set to 1.50, and sky deselected in the render layers tab. I then rendered out to a .mov file.

VSE (video sequence editor)
I then took the two pieces of footage that I had. The footage I shot, and the blades, and brought them into blenders video sequence editor and merged the two pieces.

*Note to solve the playback speed, I had to drop the number of frames per second.

  • I used 15 fps. Since this was test footage, I didn't really need to go all out. I am planing on actually doing a short, using this fellow here... it's based on an Emo Jedi, and his robotic friend DEX88. It's going to be hilarious.

  • Great. I'm looking for a replacement for after effects but i think blender is too hard for me, I'm going to give it a try though

  • Nice test!!!

  • What FPS did you finally use, my camcorder records at thirty FPS and it was something of a bitch to get even half a minute of footage done using FXhome?
