As you said, I am new to this and have never used it before.
This is part one of the tutorial.
So why are you relating everything to "What we already did" or "What you did before"
This has no value as a Part one, beginner tutorial.
Please rename to Intermediate or advanced.

Can I use this program to make something for my blog? I have a blogger blog and noticed I have this application on my computer, it looks like it can do some pretty neat things, I was just wondering if anybody knows if I can integrate this stuff into blogger.

@sumosumo84 You cannot compile these as .class files. Flash is not related to Java, no matter how much ActionScript may look like it. Sorry.

Flex is the SDK that flash builder uses to make Flash applications.
