What is love?

After seeing a preview of Paper Heart a while back I'd forgotten about it. I recently picked it up at a closing blockbuster store and gave it a shot. I was amazed at how it resonated in my life. I could be Charlyne Yi.
So, tell me, subdweebs, what is love?

i think religious holidays are pretty much way sillier than valentine's day because v-day is optional. really; love is something everyone can experience, and everyone suffers when the grocery stores close because of christmas; not just christians. so. there's that. =)

divorce happens because people change. you don't always love who that person changes into.

my favorite romance movie is buffalo 66. don't watch the trailer/read the description. just rent it.

When I first say your title, my thought was, "WHAT IS LOVE?!?!, Baby, don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No more!" Haha

So the Beatles had it wrong when they said, "Love is all you need"? But I've thought about this before too. If that's all you need, what if you never find it? HUH BEATLES!?

Also, in our culture it is very fabricated, into this hollywood fairytale scene. That it will happen for everyone. Only in for a let down. It does happen, but on rare occasions.

Finally, Away We Go. Rent that.

this is a great mindset your in, i believe life is meant for haveing experiences and soaking up knowlege and love is an experience an emotional mindset that people will fall in and out of but it's all about making durable lasting friendships

well ... i DO believe in love. obviously ha but i would say that it necessarily isnt love with another person. People can live completely fulfilled lives without a spouse or significant other. God is love though, so for me to denounce love would be me denouncing God. BUT i do agree that people get way too caught up in it and i have found myself in that same position, where i think they "are the one" and then they freakin dump me the next week. its not something that just happens. its a decision

My thoughts:

We're all just stumbling around in the dark (some more scared than others) looking for a light switch. What do we really want in life? I mean I think love would be nice. But I also agree with you, it shouldn't be THE thing to make your life. It actually scares me a lot, the prospect of finding "love" and being disappointed. EH WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ANYWAYS? nothing. I'm rambling.

I must admit. I'm slightly offended by your mocking tone. I really do think Watchmen is a legitimate and thought provoking piece of literature. Just because it's a graphic novel doesn't mean it's lesser than other books.

I think it is just human nature to want to be with someone. It's possible to find joy outside of companionship. But I don't think love is fabricated or unnecessary. Love is an emotion you can feel for anyone, not just a boyfriend or girlfriend.
