Prosopagnosia and me... Well, at least I think it's me...

I have always had this problem, and never knew what it was called until I saw a movie called Face in the Crowd. I am like you. I can't identify people unless I see them all the time in the same place. If i see them out of place, I can't recognize them at all. It's like we never met. People resent that. Until now, I've always explained I have a "recognition disorder."

Well if I had a friend with this condition, I'd probably try to have a little fun and mess with him.

@WildKatSpeaking Now I'm curious as to how you managed to type this comment. :)

@Beau1618 I do wonder if you have ever had the problem of recognizing yourself from a photograph? Also, I hope you don't mind, but I thought this video blog was so relevant, I plan on showing it to my class.

@daeth4us It's all about understanding, isn't it. Glad to hear from a fellow prosoprognasian! :o)

Thanks for talking about this, I'm actually doing a research paper for my Brain and Behavior class and it's nice to come across a real person who I can see how it affects you instead of reading about it and wondering. Have a great day, mate.
Thanks again.

I've been blind since birth and I use a lot of these same things to try to figure out who people are! HAHA the roommate one was funny! When I was in university I lived in a residence with this girl. I'd meet her in the strangest places. A term later I was chatting with her and all of a sudden another of her popped up! Turns out "she" was a twin! I always wondered why our conversations were a bit awkward like she wasn't sure what we spoke about last lol!

@WildKatSpeaking Ha ha ha - I know a few twins and just when I think I recognise a person, it turns out to be someone else. Oh well, obstacles like these only make us stronger characters! Cheers for you meesage! beau.

I have the same exact form of prosopagnosia as you. harvard university and university of london are needing people like us for a study they're doing! Here is their website. just search face blind and harvard. (I can't post a link in here)
have you ever been absolutely sure you know someone so you say hi only to find out when they spoke are you noticed their gestures you don't actually know the person at all?? ahh embarrassing.

@misalissa Yes, that quite the other side of things. i often assure myself I'm absolutely right in thinking who someone is - I go in with a specific question and their face soon tells me "what on earth are you talking about."
Cheers for the website - apologies for my late reply!!!!
