Doc was definitely one of Michael's favorite players. He also looked up to Walter Davis and Marques Johnson. There's a picture of MJ in college in his dorm with Marques Johnson's poster on his wall. His most favorite player though was David Thompson. All these guy's had similar quick first step games and leaping ability(though Walter Davis didn't get up as high as the other's). MJ took something from all those guys, and had his own game at the same time.

Lol I love how he said "Even if I don't win any world championships or MVP's..." So humble for the Jesus of basketball.

@epics7 I would have to disagree. MJ's style was influenced by other players no doubt, but his game and the way it was executed was so different that it became uniquely his own.

@uberathlete To a degree. But MJ didn't create his own style. A lot of his game is adopted from the smaller guards and other players. Same with James Worthy and like players that had the quick first step game. Julius during the early 70's had a quick first step game and there are plays that he had done that was never televised during his ABA career that were sick.

@uberathlete Exactly. Jordan was definitely a more rounded player overall.

i love the fact that doc embraced mj, & didn't distance himself from him - as other veterans did like magic, isiah & others, doc was secure n himself 2 not feel threatened by ne1 let alone michael, & it's obvious that michael truly appreciated doc's approach, especially from this clip ...
