@Larkinchance Try to go into game's folder and rename LGVID.AX. into LGVID.AX.BAK
All cutscenes will not work, but game itself should work normally.

@SeriousIlya System Shock 2 is also on my top 5 list. Current FPS provoke blood lust and primitive thinking. I'm not saying that they are not good games but they lack intellectual challenge.
Richard Gariott of Ultima fame quit because he said the public's demand for detailed graphics was too high.
See the crap in the PCgame shelf..
If graphics is everything what accounts for the huge success of MineCraft..
Due to successive window's upgrades, my copy of SS2 is unplayable.

@SeriousIlya Bioshock was good but it just was not scary. Since you are so over powered in that game. but i do agree that company's only care about graphics now and it is disappointing. Because all we have now today is over hyped trash of horror games.

SS2 came out in '99, when development costs were way lower, even though design tools and middleware weren't as readily available. If there's going to be anything interesting, it'll be on the indie scene. Big publishers won't take multi-million dollar risks as easily, but no one expects superb graphics and presentation from indie.

BioShock is still a great game, it had interesting horror elements, it's probably one of the best games out of the new games era, but SystemShock 2 definitely beats most, if not all new games due to its gameplay complexity.
Unfortunately games like systemshock will no longer be created, since developers are highly concerned about extreme graphic dosing due to market demands, but everyone knows this doesnt make a game better. So new games suffer from true value that the old games had :c
